If you're not on the Gnome desktop, utilizing CPU scaling can be a bit of a hassle. The configuration file is easy to find and edit, but having to run through the steps for every CPU or CPU core every time you want to change the setting is annoying. This tutorial teaches you a basic technique for writing a BASH script to change the file permissions on the scaling governor file, as well as set up a simple IF-ELSE statement for actually changing your CPU scaling setting across all your CPUs or CPU cores. Note: There are numerous ways to script this using BASH, this is simply one way! A 'FOR,' 'WHILE,' or 'DO WHILE' loop would likely be a more elegant solution, but this should work for beginners. Also, once you've written the .sh file and saved it, you can actually just double-click it from your desktop/directory to run it (possibly using "Run in Terminal" setting). Don't forget to watch in 720p HD!
