| Manchester United £150m Transfer Window Spend: was it good value? | Guardian Football Show |
The CIES Football Observatory have recently released a report detailing the players who moved clubs this summer for over or under their market value, and it suggests that Manchester United overspent by £24 for Angel Di Maria, and overpaid for Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera as well. This week's Guardian Football Show aims to shine a light on a few of these deals, and where clubs have gone wrong - or right - in their financial arrangements. Raphael Honigstein explains why German clubs don't spray the money around, while Ian McCourt discusses why English teams do. Andy Brassell looks at the purchases of Luis Suarez and James Rodriguez to try to work out where the value is, Julien Laurens reveals a Ligue 1 side's interesting transfer policy and James Horncastle critiques the summer business done by Serie A's top clubs. Andy, Julien and James can be found twice weekly on our Talking Points series, looking at all the action from the top European league, and from Monday, Raphael Honigstein will be joining the team to discuss the big issues in the Bundesliga, so don't forget to subscribe!
