ROUTE 77 British Cup Motocross 2015. Throwing up enough problems to fully test the patience of a saint, round one of the Route 77 GT British MX Cup launched at Wilden Lane near Kidderminster. Previously known as the GT Cup the series got off to a somewhat shaky start with some 300 riders bursting the paddock. First there was track layout changes, and then an over lengthy qualification session. On top of that further unfortunate delays with rider injuries – all meaning some groups raced just once in Saturday action. Day two – although a long day – ran smoother, and everyone ended up with their full quota of four races apiece. Acknowledging various issues and some disquiet from the paddock co promoter Claudio Bernardinelli took it squarely on the chin. In a post meeting statement he assured that amendments to the format would be made for round two, promising a much smoother running event at Preston Docks. Out on the track – one renowned for it's toughness – there was no doubt the 50cc Auto's found it toughest of all. Riders and parents alike had their work cut out keeping the wheels moving in the right direction. None the less a sparkling all around show from McKenzie Marshall going 2-1-2-1 gave him an early series lead. Finishing in second overall Riley Keene was the winner of heat three as a solid set of four results gave Carter Brown third overall. Heat one winner and constant top performer Louis Vincent was unlucky posting a no score in heat three thus dropping him down the order. In the 65's the much expected three way tear up between Charlie Heyman, Charlie Palmer and Vinnie Guthrie fully played out as Palmer brilliantly stole a march winning heat one. Heyman finished second in that one but thereafter he ruled the roost running in three outstanding wins. Finishing no lower than third weekend long Palmer was the main challenge and he nailed a well deserved second overall. Guthrie with a somewhat up and down unlucky weekend saved his best until last, finishing second in heat four helped him into third overall.
